"The best things come from relentless experimentation, free from thought and limit. It begins with inspiration, which drives us to create something new; and the resulting effects of those countless experiments are what can lead us to innovation."

Studies - Edie Promo

"Sienna Miller as Edie."
This is a promotional concept for a documentary based on the life of Edie Sedgwick, and the portrayal of her character in media, particularly film. I referenced a screen shot of Sienna Miller playing Edie Sedgwick in the movie "Factory Girl".
"Edie: The Finale."
I printed each layer separately on charcoal paper,
which gave the image a silk-screen effect, echoing
a Pop Art/Warhol aesthetic.

Studies: "Edie.", "Edie No. 2 (Y).", "Edie No. 3 (M).", "Edie No. 4 (C).", "Edie No. 5.", "Edie No. 6 (CYMK)."
medium: graphite and ink on vellum, Adobe PhotoShop. 2009.

Blast from the past: "Ophelia"

"Ophelia" with detail
medium: oil on canvas. 1998.
This is an old painting I did around 1998. I was around the age of 12, so I was recreating works of other artists from history while finding, developing, and employing my own painting style.
I referenced "Ophelia" (Paul Steck, 1895).

"Ophelia." 1998.

"I got really drawn to the richness of the car's blue paint; So I started experimenting with posing in silly dynamic gestures and capturing a composition within a composition through the reflection in the car.

"I love trees in the fall, especially when they turn bright yellow, glimmering gold under the sun. I fell in love with the rivers of monstrous streaming shadows cutting through the leaves; and found a certain kind of pleasant somber finding beauty in dying nature placed next to the hardness of human tombs. I captured a sense of loneliness in the figures, as the studium opposing the punctum of the bold, overpowering tones of the leaves."
